Paper Heart

Michael Cera & Charlene YiAs a recipient of the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, Paper Heart has already proven itself to be more than just another indie flick. For that, actress/comedian Charlyne Yi (Knocked Up) and director Nicholas Jasenovec, who wrote the acclaimed screenplay together, are responsible. With Jasenovec behind the camera and Yi as the subject and star of the film, the two set out on a journey across America to document Charlyne's skepticism on the issue of 'Love.' Through interviews with friends, random married couples, scientists, and even kids, Charlyne attempts to discover love from the stories, advice, and experiences of others, only later to be blindsided with the chance to experience the feeling on her own. She catches the interest of actor Michael Cera (Juno, Superbad) and embarks on a relationship with him, turning the original idea for a documentary to an unconventional and delightfully captured story about love. Though its limited screenings around the U.S. have passed, I would keep a watchful eye for its DVD release. I have a good feeling this movie will not disappoint.
